Harper to Visit South America
In an attempt to try to re-establish relations with our South American cousins, Prime Minister Stephen Harper is flying south in order to establish better relations with Colombia, Chile, Barbados and Haiti. While critics are wondering if Harper will mantain his tough stance on human rights issues, Harper’s office says he will, according to canada.com
Harper won’t ignore human rights concerns, especially in Haiti and Colombia, his officials say. In Bogota, for example, he is scheduled to tour a Canadian-funded rehabilitation centre that helps victims of the landmines that litter the country thanks to its years of civil war. Canada is Colombia’s second-largest donor in terms of aid for de-mining activity and equipment.
hmmmm… I don’t see the Evil-V-Word-Place on the list but since our relations with China are pretty much in the crapper right now because of human rights and communism I’m pretty sure that is for the best. While I’m no political analyst, I am thinking that Chávez is probably not the best choice for Harper’s new best friend.
I just found this picture on the internet and while I have no idea of the context, I’m pretty sure it’s Stephen Harper getting ready for his trip.
